Abstract: The publication of research results is fundamental to the development of any scientific field. By publishing, researchers seek to validate their scientific findings, which should be checked for relevance, correctness, originality, etc., and to disseminate them for future research purposes. However, very often bright young researchers fail to get their work published because they do not understand how the submission and review process works. This lack of understanding undermines their efforts and can jeopardise their careers. This talk, based on the presenter's personal experience, will provide some insights into what journals look for in what gets published, the review process and the roles of each actor, and how to write effective papers. The talk will be followed by a hands-on workshop in which participants will have the opportunity to be coached in analysing their texts using the framework presented in the talk.
