Resumo: Dynamical systems with bounded absorbing sets have been studied for several decades and model many real world phenomena. However, a great amount of interesting systems have unbounded solutions, and for those a bounded absorbing set cannot exist. In this talk we give an overview of the theory of attractors for systems with unbounded solutions (with a list of main references), and try to set an abstract framework to ensure the existence of such attractors. We will briefly discuss the problem of projecting a semigroup with unbounded solutions into the Poincaré upper hemisphere, and some other interesting open problems of this theory.
