With a degree in Computational and Applied Mathematics and a Master and PhD in the area of metaheuristic methods for addressing integer programming problems, Professor Berretta's research interests include the design of mathematical models and the development of efficient computation techniques to tackle large and complex combinatorial optimisation problems, in a variety of application areas, like supply chain optimisation, production planning, data analysis, timetabling problems, among many others.

In this talk, she will share recent projects that she has been working, including optimisation mathematical models in food supply chain; and mathematical models and metaheuristics for data visualisation and community detection.

Prof Berretta is also Assistant Dean for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment. In this talk she will also briefly mention recent projects that she is involved in, relating to gender equity and diversity in STEM.
