Electricity grids are considered the largest man-made complex systems, spanning continent-sized areas. In order to guarantee their stable, safe, and efficient operation, various forms of forecasting, numerical optimisation, and decision making techniques are required. In this talk we will approach these topics from the point of view of wholesale electricity markets in the USA and discuss various approaches and challenges we face at Invenia.
