Resumo: "Online misinformation is a serious threat to democracy, economy
and society. Content verification is, therefore, one of the main daily
tasks for journalist, human rights activists and other professionals,
although it is far from being a trivial task. Two main challenges are:
intelligent bots and highly realistic synthetic multimedia content being
created through deep learning approaches ("deep fake"); and, the large
amount of content produced and shared in social media. In this talk, I
will present our efforts on tackling online misinformation within the EU
H2020 WeVerify project, focusing on the analysis, detection,
verification and debunking of online rumours spread through social media
channels."
